This is Alberta Untapped’s first concert in Jasper. The fourth annual event is presented in partnership with the Alberta Music Industry Association and ATB Financial.
“It’s three acts and it’s going to be a roots/rock/country show featuring all Alberta artists,” said Jessica Marsh, event coordinator. “Essentially it’s so that Alberta can have access to this wide range of cultural experiences.”
Proceeds generated by the concerts will be donated to a charity in each respective town. Jasper Community Habitat for the Arts will benefit from Jasper’s ticket sales.
“The funding that we receive from Untapped will go to all sorts of endeavours,” said Dave Baker at Habitat for the Arts. This includes subsidies for programs facilitated by Habitat for the Arts.
Some of the money will also go toward Arts Jasper’s 40th birthday celebration on April 18.
The three artists set to play in Jasper are T. Buckley, J.J. Shiplett, and Cam Penner.
“Their performances will be recorded by [radio station] CKUA and then they’re going to be broadcast live, creating a radio series of all the shows throughout the summer,” said Marsh.
“It will provide some longevity to the series and give the artists a bit more exposure and it’s good to have CKUA on board because they broadcast all across Alberta.”
Alberta Untapped is Saturday, April 6 at the Legion. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the Legion or at .
