Two Jasper baseball teams kicked off the 2016 fall ball exhibition season with a pair of wins each, Sept 10.

The Pee Wee Bears swept the hosting Giants 15-2 and 19-11 at Fred Johns Park in Leduc, Alta.
Dylan Dekker was on the mound for Jasper in the first four innings of game one. The slick right-hander gave up one run on only one hit while striking out 11 Giants. Cole Borrow pitched the fifth and sixth innings for Jasper.
Eric MacMahon provided power for the Bears with a home run and a double in three plate appearances. Elvis Gorontzy-Slack and Kelan Polard were both three for four at the plate while Dekker had two hits for Jasper. Jesse Kertesz-Knight chipped in with a triple and Baden Koss and Sebastian Golla each contributed a single to the Bears’ attack.
Game two of the doubleheader turned out to be a slugfest. Golla pitched four innings, picking up eight strikeouts while giving up one run. Relievers Kertesz-Knight and Borrow pitched the final three innings for Jasper.
Polard led the Bears’ offense with four hits in five trips to the plate. Kertesz-Knight blasted a home run while Koss and Dekker each added a pair of hits. Golla, Gorontzy-Slack and Borrow picked up one hit a piece in the uprising. Duncan McLeod and Tristan Erb-Beauchamp rounded out the Jasper roster in the two victories.
In other baseball action, the Jasper Mosquito Bears faced the South Jasper Place Jays at Callingwood Park in Edmonton. It was a pitching domination as Jasper blanked the Jays 12-0 and 15-0.
Pitcher Donovan Fawcett and back catcher Jake Kertesz-Knight were a solid duo in game one. Rowan Koss, Mac Carmichael, and Dylan Gerwatowski all ran the bases well and slid aggressively for the Bears.
Dexter Fawcett pitched an incredible no-hitter for Jasper in game two. Donovan Fawcett and Nash Hilworth shared the catching duties for the Bears. Jasper hitters Gage Leblanc, Callum Campbell, Thomas Leclerc and Keaton Shaeffer were all very disciplined at the plate.
The fall season will continue Sept. 17 at Centennial Park in Jasper. The Pee Wee squad will host the Spruce Grove White Sox while the mosquito team will face the Sherwood Park Athletics. Both doubleheaders begin at noon.
