Sporting grass skirts, leis, Hawaiian shirts and all kinds of retro ski gear, skiers and boarders hit Marmot Basin, April 12, to compete in the Aloha Cup.
The third annual 鈥渘on-traditional鈥� race attracted more than 150 competitors to Tranquilizer, where Marmot staff set up a fun course with banked turns, rollers and small jumps.
After multiple laps, the event wound up at the chalet with an awards ceremony, where each participant received a door prize and the top three winners were crowned in snowboarding and skiing.
In the women鈥檚 skiing, Abby Palamarek came out on top with a time of 59.1 seconds. Coming in behind Palamarek was her ski coach, Torr Begg, who came in with a time of 59.88.
Third place was a tie between Louise Knight and Geoelle Chalifoux, who both completed the course in 61.22 seconds.
On the men鈥檚 side, Jack Bennett took the top spot with a time of 51.69 seconds. Vrato Durech came in next with a time of 53.96, and in third was Mike Kertesz with a time of 54.24 seconds.
The fastest man on a snowboard was Andrew Rogers, who came in with a time of 66.3. In second was Sam Barrett, with a time of 75.81, and in third was Paul鈥攚hose last name wasn鈥檛 recorded on the results sheet鈥攚ith a time of 84.47.
And on the women鈥檚 side, the fastest on a snowboard was Shannon Schlotterlein, who completed the course in 94.31 seconds. Following her was Kathleen Gerlinsky with a time of 94.72 seconds and Amie Dario with a time of 114.91 seconds.
