West Yellowhead MLA Robin Campbell made the rounds in Jasper Jan. 13, handing out funding checks to three different groups in town.
Campbell presented organizers of the Jasper Folk Music Festival a cool $20,000, which they received through the Government of Alberta’s Community Incentives Program.
Thanks to the government’s facility enhancement program, David Baker accepted a check for $89,602 on behalf of the Friends of Jasper Culture and Recreation Society.
That money will will go toward a new sound system, boiler and kitchen equipment for the Jasper Activity Centre.
A few minutes later, just down the street, Campbell also presented a $4,725 check to the Jasper Legion for facility upgrades.
As part of the Building Alberta Plan, Campbell is presenting nearly $230,000 in grant funding to six community organizations throughout the West Yellowhead this month. The funding is from the Community Facility Enhancement Program and the Community Initiatives Program.
Of the almost $230,000, groups in Jasper received $114,327.
