Madame Rebecka Riddell-McKay’s Grade 5 physical education class stormed the Jasper Activity Centre May 7, literally climbing the walls as they learned the basics of both rock climbing and kayaking.
Split into several groups, the students spent about an hour alternating between paddling through the pool, scampering up the walls and completing a learning module.
Riddell-McKay said she thinks it’s important for her class to experience as many unique and interesting activities as possible, to get them excited about physical education. She said she hopes the experiences they have in her class spark an interest in active living that will carry forward into adulthood.
