Sponsored by Freewheel Cycle, the annual event started at the Miette River pullout on Highway 93 and took cyclists down Highway 93A to Athabasca Falls, before they ditched their bikes for a 10-km run.

In the solo men’s category, Matt Staneland finished first with a total time of 1:38:21, just over a minute and a half ahead of Ian Elm and Cam Vos, who finished second and third respectively.

In the solo women’s category, Katy Poirier finished first with a total time of 2:10:39, followed by Emma Freeman and Geneva Lloyd. Last year Poirier finished third and Lloyd finished second.

In the team men’s category, Rob Prinz and Jergen Deagle took top honours while Meg Staneland and Kaleigh Wallace took the top spot for the women’s team category.

In the mixed team category, Jonathon Hayward and Jamie Hayward had the fastest time.

Following the race, participants sat down at the Jasper Royal Canadian Legion for an authentic Mexican dinner prepared by Coco’s Cafe.
