Eleven-year-old Kiara Davis is heading to circus school to learn the tricks of the trade thanks to a $1,000 donation from the Jasper Royal Canadian Legion.

Located in Montreal, she will spend a week at cole nationale de cirque, a professional circus school that offers intensive summer camps for children.

I kind of wanted to try something different, plus Im bendable, said Davis, who has been doing gymnastics for as long as she can remember.

By the end Id like to know how to be able to do some circus tricks; some drops from the silks.

Legion president Ken Kuzminski said helping her pursue her dreams was the right thing to do.

This is one of Jaspers rising stars that has an opportunity that not everyone gets, said Kuzminski. Shes proven herself to be dedicated to the sport and we wouldnt want financial barriers stopping her or anyone else from pursuing their dreams so if we can help

to cover those costs then its something we feel very strongly about.
