A few days after the accident, fellow Jasperite Jordan Tucker launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with Titchener’s recovery. In just three months the online fundraiser raised more than $30,000—Tucker’s original goal.

On the day of the accident, Titchener and his girlfriend, Tereza Turecká, were making their way along a ridge in Bugaboo Provincial Park, B.C., when a 300 kg boulder came loose severely injuring the 32-year-old Jasperite.

With 14 broken ribs, a collapsed left lung and a broken back, he was airlifted to a hospital in Golden B.C. and then rushed to Calgary for more medical treatment.

Titchener is now on the long road to recovery, learning to walk again.

Titchener and Turecká are currently in Canmore, so he has access to sports medicine teams, top-level physiotherapists and massage therapists.

Muni launches resident satisfaction survey

The municipality of Jasper wants to hear from residents about the town’s priorities and services ahead of budget discussions in November.

To facilitate this, the municipality launched a resident satisfaction survey Oct. 27.

The survey can be completed online through the town’s website or a paper copy can be picked up at municipal facilities.

The survey is open until Nov. 23 and those that complete it will be entered into a draw to win one of four prizes, including 50 per cent off your next residential water and sewer bill (up to $150).

Respondents must be at least 18 years of age or older and reside in Jasper.

Curl with a pro

Jasper, you have the opportunity to curl with one of Canada’s best.

On Nov. 5, Olympic gold medalist Kevin Martin will be in town hosting two curling clinics.

After a day of skills training, the evening will wind down and include a supper and silent auction in the curling club lounge.

Martin and his son Karrick Martin will also act as guest speakers during the dinner.

Tickets are $50 and must be purchased by Oct. 31. To reserve your spot contact Lee Chorley at [email protected] or 780-852-7938.

If you can’t make it out to the ice, tickets for the dinner and auction are also available for $30.
