Jasper Film Club presents: A Royal Affair

When British Princess Caroline Mathilde, played by Alicia Vikander, becomes the bride of mad King Christian VII of Denmark, played by Mikkel Boe Folsgaard, all hope of happily ever after is lost to the young princess.

When British Princess Caroline Mathilde, played by Alicia Vikander, becomes the bride of mad King Christian VII of Denmark, played by Mikkel Boe Folsgaard, all hope of happily ever after is lost to the young princess. Enter German doctor, Johann Struensee, played by Mads Mikkelsen, who while gaining much personal favour with the king also captures the young Caroline’s heart. The two engage in an affair while at the same time Struensee, using his influence with the king, begins to instigate sweeping reforms throughout Denmark. However, the affair has tragic consequences that threaten to shake the very foundations of Denmark’s ruling class.

A Royal Affair will be shown on Thursday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Chaba Theatre.
