Donning poppies on their coat jackets, hundreds of Jasperites, young and old, paid their respects to Canada鈥檚 veterans on Remembrance Day at the Jasper Activity Centre, Nov. 11.
Ken Kuzminski, president of the Jasper Royal Canadian Legion led the service starting with a rendition of聽 鈥淥 Canada鈥� performed by the Jasper Junior/Senior High School concert band.
After an a few prayers and official addresses, soloist Katelyn Garton performed 鈥淭he Last Post鈥� at 11 a.m.
鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing more satisfying than to see the next generation safe and successful, but today as we remember those who did that for us, we must commit to do that for those to come,鈥� Rev. Keith Marsh said as the ceremony came to a close.
鈥淒o not forget these things or let them slip from your mind. Make them known to your children and your children鈥檚 children.鈥�
Following the ceremony, which also included two minutes of silence in memory of those who have fallen, many wandered over to the cenotaph to place poppies, before heading to the Legion for refreshments and snacks.
