Donning poppies on their coat jackets, hundreds of Jasperites, young and old, paid their respects to Canadas veterans on Remembrance Day at the Jasper Activity Centre, Nov. 11.
Ken Kuzminski, president of the Jasper Royal Canadian Legion led the service starting with a rendition of O Canada performed by the Jasper Junior/Senior High School concert band.
After an a few prayers and official addresses, soloist Katelyn Garton performed The Last Post at 11 a.m.
Theres nothing more satisfying than to see the next generation safe and successful, but today as we remember those who did that for us, we must commit to do that for those to come, Rev. Keith Marsh said as the ceremony came to a close.
Do not forget these things or let them slip from your mind. Make them known to your children and your childrens children.
Following the ceremony, which also included two minutes of silence in memory of those who have fallen, many wandered over to the cenotaph to place poppies, before heading to the Legion for refreshments and snacks.
