Dear Editor,
My comments on the long range plans for Marmot Basin are brief.
When is enough enough? How can it be acceptable to continually allow a commercial ski hill in a national park and a World Heritage Site to expand?
Expanded snow-making, and enhanced parking lots means expansion of negative environmental impacts.
I grew up skiing at Marmot Basin with my family. We enjoyed it very much. It was much smaller then. Now I rarely go anymore, because the relentless push for more, more, more, turns me off quite frankly.
Considering that Marmot Basin is a facility which only owes its existence to being grandfathered in (i.e. if it didnt already exist, it would not be permitted to be developed now), it is unacceptable that there is any expansion allowed at all. It seems that year after year, there is always more.
I say enough already!
