The Jasper Junior Lifeguard Club, the River Dragons, returned to Jasper with five medals last month, after competing in the Junior Lifesaving Provincial Championships.
The 13 swimmers travelled to Spruce Grove March 16 to participate in the championships with more than 200 competitors, and they ultimately brought home two gold and two bronze medals.
The 14 and under girls鈥擟ailyn Sherlow, Jenna Sillence, Hope Deagle and Andrea Leitch鈥攚on three medals, two bronze and one gold.
The girls won gold in the manikin relay, as well as bronze in the obstacle relay and the medley relay.
While the 14 and under boys鈥擫ogan Urie and Luke Eady鈥攚on gold in the line throw relay.
With their medals, Jasper鈥檚 swimmers finished in 11th place out of 15 teams.
According to their coach, Jo-Ann Sherlow, the athletes 鈥渞epresented Jasper [well] with their positive outlooks and respectful attitudes.鈥�
鈥淎ll the kids beat their personal bests and swam hard.鈥�
