Medals for Jasper swimmers

The Jasper Junior Lifeguard Club, the River Dragons, returned to Jasper with five medals last month, after competing in the Junior Lifesaving Provincial Championships.

The Jasper Junior Lifeguard Club, the River Dragons, returned to Jasper with five medals last month, after competing in the Junior Lifesaving Provincial Championships.

The 13 swimmers travelled to Spruce Grove March 16 to participate in the championships with more than 200 competitors, and they ultimately brought home two gold and two bronze medals.

The 14 and under girlsCailyn Sherlow, Jenna Sillence, Hope Deagle and Andrea Leitchwon three medals, two bronze and one gold.

The girls won gold in the manikin relay, as well as bronze in the obstacle relay and the medley relay.

While the 14 and under boysLogan Urie and Luke Eadywon gold in the line throw relay.

With their medals, Jaspers swimmers finished in 11th place out of 15 teams.

According to their coach, Jo-Ann Sherlow, the athletes represented Jasper [well] with their positive outlooks and respectful attitudes.

All the kids beat their personal bests and swam hard.
