Four of Jasper’s minor soccer teams tested their metal at their Regional Zone Finals June 21, finishing up the short soccer season with mixed results.
The U16 boys took home the gold medal from their finals in Whitecourt, where - after all three teams tied at four points apiece - Jasper’s overall goals scored helped them squeak by their Hinton rivals to snag first place.
The U16 ladies also had an impressive showing, locking down a sliver medal at their contest in Hinton.
The U18 girls were frustrated at home by their Hinton and Edson competitors, finishing in third place in that contest, while the U14 boys finished out of the medals in Hinton, ending up in fourth place out of five teams.
With their win, the U16 boys had the opportunity to compete in the provincial tournament later this summer, but low numbers mean they will have to pass up the opportunity.
