Next year, the 27 graduating Grade 6 students from Jasper Elementary School will cross the field and enter the “big” school, Jasper Junior/Senior High.
To celebrate their last day in elementary school and to acknowledge their achievements thus far, the students were in the spotlight June 27, during the school’s annual “walk down.”
In her congratulatory speech, Betsy DeClerq, a school division trustee, reminded the students of just how lucky they are to be entering junior high next year. She noted that this way the students will have an opportunity to spend one year in the school their siblings, parents and maybe even grandparents attended, before then heading into the brand new joint facility in September 2014 for their Grade 8 year.
