The Jasper-Yellowhead Historical Society and Museum will officially unveil a new bronze sculpture called Kookum, which is Cree for grandmother, on June 23.
Created by Crystal C Mossing, the sculpture is a depiction of an Indigenous woman gathering food and honours the original Aseniwuche Winewak (Rocky Mountain People) residents of Jasper.
The event will take place in front of the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives on June 23 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a light lunch and refreshments. A group from the Aseniwuche Winewak people will be attending along with other dignitaries.
