According to their conductor and band teacher, Jonathan Thornton, the Jasper Junior/Senior High School bands played better than ever during their final concert, June 4.

Each band performed three songs, spanning the gamut from an upbeat pop song to a hilarious tune that had students purposefully playing off beat, to show just how difficult it is to play perfectly.

Following the concert, school trustee Betsy DeClercq was beaming. She said the Grade 7 band was the best she’d ever seen and the other ensembles were absolutely fabulous.

The high school’s music program has four separate bands: Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9 and the Senior Band, which consists of students from Grade 9, 10 and 11, and is supported by the JJSHS Band Parents Society.
