A group of women gathered at the Best Western Jasper Inn and Suites Feb. 14 to join in a worldwide dance session that aimed to address and combat violence against women.
The One Billion Rising movement began in 2013 when one billion people, from 207 different countries, danced together to demand an end to violence against women and girls. This year, organizers hoped for even more participation.
In Jasper Feb. 14, the dancers, led by Margo Bereska and Grace Kohn, took over a conference room at the Jasper Inn where they had been running a womens empowerment workshop.
Its great to join with people from around the world, and for such an important cause, Kohn said after the dance.
