The opening date for a new ski resort in Valemount has been pushed back again.

According to the Rocky Mountain Goat, resort designer Tommaso Oberti said Valemount Glacier Destinations (VGD) is now aiming for a soft-open during the 2018-19 winter season, nearly a year later than initially anticipated.

According to the news report even that date is fairly optimistic because it all depends on investors and how quickly lifts can be installed.

Despite the revised timeline Oberti told the local newspaper that it is still moving forward on construction and several site visits have already taken place by experts to determine the best place to install the lifts.

In August 2016 the B.C. government approved the master plan to develop the $175 million resort, which envisions year-round skiing on glaciers and the longest vertical drop in North America at more than 2,000 metres.
