The Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge bustled Sept. 27, as young and old came together to step, shuffle, twirl and twist.

The Culture Days Dance kicked off a weekend of arts events in Jasper that included street-side performances, puppet shows and homegrown awards.

A trio of musicians, featuring Raven about the Arts music award winner Monika Schaefer, played jaunty tunes for the approximately 50 people gathered around the dance floor and chatting at tables.

Jasper the Bear also made an appearance. The towns bigheaded mascot officially became a senior citizen this year, and used the opportunity to boogie down with his fellow old-timers Friday night.

Along with the music, dance and treats, attendees also had a chance to check out Jaspers scariest, most Jaspery and best-recycled scarecrows.

Several Jasper residents had submitted their straw-headed characters to be judged and many of them were at the lodge, decorating the hall.
