Under the heat of a warm spring sun, Jasper played host to soccer teams from around the region last weekend, welcoming Hinton, Whitecourt and Edson to town.
On Saturday, the field was overtaken by the U14 girls, who played four games, with Jasper facing off in two of them.
First thing Saturday morning, the girls faced Hinton—a team that proved to be no match for Jasper’s fast feet. The match ended with a score of 6–1.
Later in the day, Jasper took the field again, this time against Edson. In this match up, despite their best efforts, the girls were no match for Edson’s quick-thinking athletes.
The U14 girls will be back on the field May 23–25 when they compete in the Sherwood Park Tournament.
The U16 boys also competed last weekend, winning both of their games against Hinton and Whitecourt on Sunday.
The next home games here in Jasper will be for the U14 boys, who will take the field May 31.
