Students create legacy art

Recently, Jasper artist Libby Weir did an artist in residency project with students from the Jasper Junior/Senior High School, and the resulting clay tiles will be used to create a mural in the new school, which is set to open next September.

Arts in ResidenceRecently, Jasper artist Libby Weir did an artist in residency project with students from the Jasper Junior/Senior High School, and the resulting clay tiles will be used to create a mural in the new school, which is set to open next September. The tiles were based on a writing assignment the students did, exploring their experiences living in Jasper. As well as the tiles, Weir taught the students to work with charcoal and clay and to draw a variety of still life objects. Funding for the residency project came from a $6,000 grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, as well as from the school’s Parent Advisory Council.
