Students turned everyday objects into drums, sanded soapstone, scratched records and duct taped their friends to the walls of the gym, May 8, all while their teachers watched, laughed and rejoiced in the freedom of Education Week.
The afternoon of hands-on experimental learning at the Jasper Junior/Senior High School was organized to celebrate the annual event and included everything from junkyard drumming to aromatherapy, slo-pitch, golf, duct tape fashion, and soapstone carving.
As well as giving students an opportunity to experience new things, the two hours of instruction were also used to mix students from Grades 7 through 12, so they could get to know their peers.
