Two arrested in drug bust

rcmpbadge600pxJasper RCMP seized a large quantity of drugs and $18,000 in cash after executing a search warrant of a Jasper residence, Aug. 18.

According to police, officers seized 1,600 grams of marijuana, 1,100 grams of cannabis resin, 300 grams of magic mushrooms, 130 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of methamphetamine (MDMA) and drug paraphernalia.

Those that traffic in illicit drugs destroy lives, homes, and communities, said RCMP Sgt. Rick Bidaisee.

Robert Kelly, 30, andBianka Loria, 30, have each been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of MDMA for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis resin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

They have both been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Jasper Provincial Court, Sept. 18.

The drug bust comes nearly a week after a similar incident where police arrested a 26-year-old local man and seized $2,300 worth of drugs during a traffic stop.

During that incident police seized a large amount of marijuana, magic mushrooms and drug paraphernalia.

Bidaisee would not say whether the two drug busts were related.
