As they always say in the Rockies, “if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.”
That saying most certainly proved itself true last weekend, as music lovers gathered at Entrance Ranch for the seventh annual Wild Mountain Music Festival, and fortunately, almost everyone came prepared.
As the rain poured down on Saturday afternoon, the umbrellas came out, the raincoats went on and the party continued.
“It's the outdoors in Alberta: sometimes the weather is perfect and other times its not,” said festival president Brian LeBarge. “The line-up spoke for itself. We had no concerns there. The quality of the musicians was unquestionable.”
And, thankfully, for the thousands of Blue Rodeo fans in attendance, the weather cooperated for the Canadian legends, as they belted out their hits on Saturday night, bringing everyone to their feet.
“I'm happy,” said LeBarge following the event. “Our goal is every year to be five per cent better than we were before.
“Looking just at the last three years, there's no doubt that's the case.”
LeBarge credited the festival's solid group of volunteers for making that success a reality.
“I just can't say enough to thank our volunteers.”
