On Nov. 3, at 11:40 am., officers of the Hinton RCMP were called to assist the Hinton Bylaw Officer with a vehicle that was seen driving erratically before it hit the ditch in the area of Westriver Road and Switzer Drive.
The lone occupant was seen leaving the scene of the accident.
Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that the vehicle in the ditch, a white GMC Yukon, had been reported stolen days prior. Officers set up containment in the area and RCMP Police Dog Service responded.
After a search of the area with the assistance of the police dog, the occupant was located and arrested without incident.
A youth has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The youth has been released with court in the future.
