On Jan. 8, 2023, Hinton RCMP Traffic Section pulled a vehicle over in the town of Hinton and conducted an impaired driving investigation.
Through the investigation, a total of 363 grams of methamphetamine was located and seized.
“This amount of meth has a street value of nearly $20,000 and the rippled effect of taking this significant amount of drugs off the streets will be felt by our community as well as surrounding communities,” says Staff Sergeant Shiloh Fragomeni.
“RCMP repeatedly see street drugs laced with other harmful drugs which can result in a tragic ending. Therefore, if we can seize large amounts of drugs before they are sold, we can stop the flow of these harmful drugs into our community which has a sounding impact.”
Along with 363 grams of methamphetamine, $1,600 in cash was seized, cell phones and other items that are used in the offence of trafficking illegal drugs.
As a result of the investigation, RCMP have arrested and charged Michael Carl Moore (44), a resident of Hinton.
Moore has been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for the dangerous purpose
- Possession of unstamped tobacco
Moore has been released from custody with his next court appearance set for Feb. 1, 2023.
