Jasper Elementary School donated a heap of food to the Jasper Food Bank, Dec. 20.

And as a charming bonus, the students passed the bags of non-perishable food items hand-to-hand, from the elementary school, along the length Geikie Street, right to the doors of the food bank.

The school has collected donations for the food bank for years, but a few years ago it decided to get its students more involved, by forming an assembly line and passing each bag down that line.

This year, students braved the cold to continue the tradition.

Patrick Mooney, president of the food bank, estimated that altogether the school donated between 150 and 200 pounds of food.
