A male teenage skier was transported via STARS air ambulance from the Jasper area to an Edmonton hospital on Thursday (April 3).

Marmot Basin, a ski resort south of the Jasper townsite, confirmed a skier collided with a tree and its staff helped on scene before having paramedics take over.

“Marmot Basin ski patrol attended to and transported the injured skier to a waiting ambulance who then took over care,” said Brian Rode, vice president of Marmot Basin, in an email.

STARS was unable to confirm the status of the patient, but said the person was taken to Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

Diana Rinne, a spokesperson for Alberta Health Services, declined to provide information, citing patient confidentiality.
