The U15 Jasper Bearcats hosted the Drayton Valley Outlaws this past weekend, in what proved to be the most intense hockey played in the Jasper Barn in quite some time.

In fact, Saturday's game was nothing short of a barn burner, with goals being scored back and forth so often that one fan compared it to a game of ping pong.

The Bearcats and Outlaws were just getting a feel for how this game was going to go, when Jackson Irwin sniped the first goal of the game, Drew Kovacs with the helper. Not long after that, Drayton Valley answered back with not one, but two goals. The first period ended with the Outlaws up 2-1.

The second period got started with Carson Campbell tying the game up. Irwin with the assist. And then Irwin got his second goal of the game with some help from Cache Leblanc. The Outlaws then came back and scored four unanswered goals, and Irwin finished the period off with his hat-trick goal. Campbell with the helper. If you've lost track, the score was now 6-4 for Drayton Valley.

The third period was when the game of ping pong got really intense. At one end of the ice, Irwin scored, then back down to the other end, the Outlaws scored. Back to the other end, Kovacs from Irwin, ping Outlaws scored again, pong Kovacs from Irwin again. One minute later, Irwin found the back of the net one more time, Dustin Derksen and Casey Peel with the helpers. The game was now tied 8-8. But it didn't end there. Drayton Valley came back with one more, but it still wasn't over. Campbell tapped one more in to tie it back up. And then with a break-away, game-winning, hat-trick goal, Campbell found the back of the net one last time and the Jasper Bearcats came out of this one with a 10-9 win.

Still reeling from the previous game, the Bearcats faced off against the Outlaws again on Sunday. This game was still intense, but not quite as high scoring as the day before.

The first period looked quite similar to the game prior with Campbell passing the puck up to Irwin, who found Kovacs for the first goal of the game, only to be answered by two goals from Drayton Valley, ending the period down 2-1 again.

The second period saw only two goals being scored. Irwin to Kovacs to Campbell to net, and Kovacs to Campbell to Irwin to net. Props going out to Jasper's goaltender, Brady Campbell, for stopping all 15 shots sent his way during the second period. The score was now 3-2 for the Bearcats.

The third period got started with, you guessed it. A goal by Kovacs, assisted by Irwin and Campbell. Only to have the Outlaws answer that with back to back goals. The game was tied 4-4. Soon after that, Campbell saw an opportunity and took it right to the back of the net. Followed by Kovacs getting his hat-trick, and the last goal of the game. Derksen with the helper. Jasper got out of this one with a 6-4 win, sending the Outlaws home empty handed.

The Bearcats will hit the road this weekend, heading to Barrhead, and Riviere Qui Barre. Be sure to check the 51°µÍø next week to find out how they did.
