As we approach the mid-way mark of this chamber year, JPCC finds it important to reflect on what has been accomplished to date and what is remaining to be done.

First and foremost, if you don’t follow JPCC, Jasper the Bear or Robson House Historical Society on Facebook or Instagram, the few moments it takes to like and follow is well worth the investment. In addition to very regular and timely posts on all three accounts, there is so very much to learn and to assist you as you gear up for the season. From making sure the ICYMI (In Case You Missed It) shares, to upcoming events and learning opportunities for your growth and engagement, and to meeting the volunteer members of the Executive and Board as well as the Administrative Team here to meet your daily needs. There is so very much to take in, easily accessible and regularly features YOU, the membership new and renewing – this is really all about you.

Up next? Glad you asked. The next General Meeting is scheduled for March 15 at Wicked Cup and the following week, March 22, please join us for NETMA (Nobody Ever Tells Me Anything) in the Quorum Room of the Jasper Cultural Centre where Community Development will welcome one and all. Did we happen to mention that during that same time, you can visit an exclusive exhibit honouring Jasper the Bear’s 25th birthday. Join in on the artistic impressions applied to our beloved bear.

Other big news? Well, for one, on June 19, in cooperation with the local RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) detachment, local volunteers, partners and supporters, Jasper will welcome back the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride. This community spirit performance is the first of its kind in 50 years in Jasper and the small but enthusiastic committee is excited to be partnering with our stakeholders, members, Indigenous partners and non-profit groups to acknowledge and foster friendships. For example, watch for a special exhibit at the museum, visits by local and regional students, visits to our seniors, and coveted ride-abouts. In addition, the public can visit the stable located in the Jasper Activity Centre hockey arena and, here’s the really big deal. It’s FREE.

Watch this space as we announce the details and how you can be involved. This is no small undertaking and your contribution, no matter what, is most appreciated.

Could there be more? Of course. Plan to help Jasper the Bear celebrate his 75th at the family centered community birthday party scheduled for July. Music, crafts, storytelling, games and, of course, a huge birthday cake to enjoy.

While we’re having fun, we are also working on advocating on your behalf, sharing what concerns you and your business with local, provincial and federal agencies. Working every single day to meet your needs. As always, we want to hear from you – remember it takes a chamber to make a difference. We are your voice at the table. It’s what we do and it’s all for you. Always and in all ways, add to the conversations and to be cliché, there is strength in numbers. That is a fact.

Till next month, enjoy. We do, indeed, live in an exceptional place on the planet.

Pattie Pavlov is the executive director of the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce.
