The U15 Jasper Bearcats continuously found the back of the net in Hinton on Nov. 18 before coming home for a high-flying matchup with Whitecourt on Nov. 20.

As most of you know by now, Hinton and Jasper have a friendly ongoing rivalry as close neighbours, and with Jasper having lost to Hinton in the preseason, it was redemption time for the Bearcats.

Just over a minute into the first period, Carson Miller opened up the scoring for Jasper, with Dustin Derksen and Drew Kovacs offering the helpers.

Hinton was unable to answer the Bearcats first goal before Carson Campbell scored not one, but two goals by the end of the first period, putting Jasper up 3-0 after 20 minutes.

The second period got started with a quick pair from Kovacs, helped out by Campbell and Jackson Irwin, while Brady "Soupy" Campbell kept the door shut on everything Hinton threw his way.

With the score 5-0 for Jasper, Irwin added a goal of his own, with Kovacs assisting to finish off the middle period.

Ahead 6-0 going into the third, it was obvious that every player on the Bearcats was giving their all.

Nearing the end of the game, Irwin passed the puck to Kovacs, who found the back of the net for his hat-trick goal.

Blocking all 37 shots on Jasper's net, Soupy got his first shutout of the season as the Bearcats did more than redeem themselves against Hinton, skunking them 7-0.

Jasper then hosted the Whitecourt Wolverines on Sunday afternoon hoping to use their previous win as momentum.

The first period started out strong when Campbell got the Bearcats on the board, followed by a great shot by Derksen, helped out by Kovacs and Bode Hofhuis to put them up 2-0.

However, their lead didn't last long, as the Wolverines got one past Soupy with 19 seconds left in the first.

The second period opened up with Whitecourt tying it right out of the gates.

However, less than a minute later, Campbell scored the tie breaker and another to secure Jasper's lead with a hat-trick goal, putting the home team up 4-2.

But again the Wolverines quickly closed the gap.

Thanks to the efforts of Kovacs the second period ended 5-3.

The third period is when things got a little shaky for Jasper, as Whitecourt scored a pair of goals to tie it up early on, and then out of nowhere came the Wolverine's Liam Parker with the tie-breaker.

But not giving up without a fight with three minutes left in the game, Campbell passed the puck to Kovacs who was able to even it out once again.

The high flying matchup ended in a 6-6 tie.

This weekend is the U15 Bearcats home tournament.

Their first games are at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, with Sundays schedule yet to be determined.
