Seniors’ Week is well underway in Jasper, with the Pluckin' Holler Boys entertaining the folks at Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge on Monday evening.

A Children’s Silly Walk Parade — featuring children from École Jasper Elementary School, École Desrochers and the Wildflowers Childcare — was scheduled to march past the lodge on Wednesday, which did not occur before press time.

Alpine Summit will host a Dollar a Card Community Seniors BINGO Bonanza on Friday, June 9 at 3 p.m.

In addition, the Municipality of Jasper is hosting a tea on June 8 at 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall at the Activity Centre.

The tea will feature a selection of treats, coffee and tea from Glenda the Great.

Council also proclaimed June 5-11, 2023 as Seniors’ Week in Jasper during its Tuesday meeting.

Since 1986, Seniors’ Week has been recognized to celebrate and recognize the contributions seniors make to enhance the quality of life in Alberta.

Seniors’ Week was inspired by the vision of the late Alice Modin, who began a campaign to start a seniors’ day in Strathcona County that helped pave the way for Seniors’ Week.
