From Sept. 28 - 29, 2023, Lake Louise RCMP, with assistance from Alberta RCMP Traffic, Alberta Sheriffs, and Parks Canada, inspected commercial vehicles operating in the Lake Louise area.
The purpose of this operation was to inspect commercial vehicles to ensure they were in safe working order and in compliance with all provincial and federal legislation.
Alberta Sheriffs provided several officers to assist with this operation, including specially trained commercial vehicle inspectors.
More than 50 commercial vehicles were inspected, yielding the following results:
- 33 commercial vehicles passed inspections;
- 14 commercial vehicles were put out of service;
- 6 commercial vehicles were identified as requiring immediate attention, and
- 52 tickets were issued.
Traffic safety is a priority for Lake Louise RCMP, said Sergeant Susan Richter, Detachment Commander of the Lake Louise RCMP.
In this operation, we aimed to enhance public safety by focusing on three things safe vehicles, safe drivers, and safe roads. This initiative was one way we have used education and enforcement to ensure our roadways are safe for everyone using them. I am very appreciative of the assistance provided by the Alberta Sheriffs and Parks Canada.
