Jasper in January 2023 kicked off last weekend, beginning 17 days of festivities throughout town, from signature events for adults to family-friendly activities for all.

Whether looking for fine wines, whiskeys and beers, exquisite cuisine, live music, an art show or winter activities, the organizers put together an itinerary of events that is sure to please.

Running over three weekends, from Jan. 13 to Jan. 29, the annual festival got started with a Kick-Off Party at the Whistle Stop Pub where patrons enjoyed drinks and complimentary appetizers while mingling with friends old and new.

Later that evening, the first signature event of the festival, Vinophilia, was held at Evil Daves Grill, where those in attendance dined on delectable appetizers while enjoying a variety of wines from across the globe as Jaclyn from Girls Club DJs had everyone grooving.

There was no shortage of events on Jan. 14, with residents and visitors taking in the Winter Fete at Pyramid Lake, where they skated, played hockey and ringette, and went on sleigh rides while drinking hot chocolate and posing for pictures with everyones favourite mascot, Jasper the Bear.

During the afternoon, the Inn Grill at the Jasper Inn hosted a patio party where guests enjoyed a live performance by one-man-band Pete Cherniawsky, warm beverages and roasting marshmallows over the fire.

The always popular Whisky, Wine & Hops event returned to the Forest Park Hotel for another year of indulgence of exquisite food and a staggering selection of fine beverages while DJ Lucydafirst entertained.

Later that evening there was live music at the Whistle Stop Pub, where Lucette performed her country infused dream-pop for mesmerized patrons, and across the street at the Athabasca Hotel, Jaspers own Sons & Daughter had a packed house dancing the night away.

The weekend wrapped up with more live music from local favourite, Wade Rimstad, displaying his chops at Terra restaurant, and Americana wunderkind, Joe Nolan, entertaining those at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodges Emerald Lounge.

There is an incredible amount of fun and entertainment left to be had during Jasper in January before the street party and fireworks display on Jan. 28 begins to wrap up this years festivities.
