Multisportscanada is wrapping up their running events for the year in Jasper with the first annual Pints & Pino Run along Pyramid Lake Road on Nov. 26.

The event gets its name from the complimentary beer or glass of wine that participants will enjoy at the Jasper Brewing Co. after their run, along with Happy Hour prices all night.

There are a few distances available for runners to choose from if they would like the free drink.

The Full Pint run has participants traveling 16 kilometres from the townsite to Pyramid Lake and back, whereas the Half Pint is an eight-kilometre trek.

Those looking for a shorter run can register for the five-kilometre Glass of Red, and if a leisurely stroll is more your speed there is the one-kilometre Just for the Run/Walk/Drink.

Trevor Soll, owner and race director at Multisportscanada, said Pints & Pino is a spinoff of an event his company hosts in Banff called the Banff Winterstart 5-miler Night Run, except the Jasper event has more distances available and it takes place during the day.

Its a great way to kick-off the holiday season (while) wrapping up the Multisportscanada running season for the year, Soll said.

And its a good way to get people into Jasper before the holiday season ahead.

Soll noted that as with most events the company hosts in Jasper, at least 90 per cent of registered participants are from out of town and organizers are hoping for around 120 runners for the inaugural event.

As well as a free beverage and Happy Hour prices at the Brewpub, participants will enjoy additional savings during Moonlight Madness at certain businesses in town as Multisportscanada has partnered with the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce for the event.

The run is being supported by the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum with volunteers, and proceeds are going to the museum.

While November can bring a variety of weather patterns to the Canadian Rockies, the forecast for the day of the event looks promising, with expected temperatures ranging from a low of -7 C to a high of 1 C.

Pyramid Lake Road will be closed from 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 26 to allow closure of the road for runners.

Registration is open until Nov. 25 and those interested in registering or finding more information can do so at

Editor's note: The story has been updated to mention the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum's connection to the run.
