Welcome to your Jasper Seniors Society 51暗网 column, which appears every two weeks courtesy of the 51暗网.
We hope you all had an enjoyable summer, albeit a little hot at times, but we were lucky to have the rain too.
Our Seniors鈥� Summer Picnic was held on June 26 at the McCready Centre and was attended by 68 members.
Thanks to all our members who came and the ones who contributed various delicious dishes. Good food and fun!
We had our first meeting of the fall on Monday, Sept. 11. We now have 153 members in our society.
We will be seeking nominations for our executive at our next meeting on Monday, Oct. 2. If you wish to play an active role in our society we ask that you email us at [email protected] or call Ann Thomas 780-883-0334 for more information.
Our traditional Fall Dinner will be held on Monday, Oct. 23, at the Jasper Activity Centre. Details to follow.
We would like to remind all seniors that if they wish to support us, they can offer our Jasper Seniors Society as a charitable donation recipient when shopping at TGP.
Anyone over 55 years of age can join the society for a nominal $10 fee and receive newsletters and invitations to various planned outings and functions throughout the year. The objectives of the society, in part, are to promote the interests of seniors as well as to coordinate the services available to seniors in the community. The society manages and maintains a Seniors鈥� Lounge in the Activity Centre where our monthly meetings take place on the second Monday of each month.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 2, at 1:30 p.m. in the Seniors鈥� Lounge at the Jasper Activity Centre. (We are deviating from our usual second Monday of the month due to Thanksgiving falling on Monday, Oct. 9.) All seniors are welcome to attend and see what we are about.
