Restaurants in Jasper are raising money for HIV support next week at the 14th annual Dine 4 Life.

On July 17, servers will donate their tips to Options HIV West Yellowhead - and their employers will match the donation.

“I’m really excited about it and it is a really fun event,” said Lynn Wannop, co-owner of Coco’s Cafe.

Coco’s has taken part in the fundraiser for 12 strong years.

“It’s something I am in strong support of,” Wannop said.

"I used to be part of the board and I like what they do.”

Coco’s may not do table service, but the tip cup is always brimming on Dine 4 Life day and Wannop matches every penny for the organisation.

“It’s pretty good, we make some good money - people put $20s into the jar,” she said.

“The goal is always to make more than last year. We made about $480 last year which is great for a little cup.”

Other restaurants in town taking part are Famoso, Montana’s, Syrahs of Jasper, Whistle Stop Pub, Earl’s, Cassio’s, Papa George’s and the De’d Dog.

The goal of Dine 4 Life is to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS while raising funds for programs and services.

Options supports healthier and safer lives for people in our community who are affected or at risk for HIV and Hepatitis C.

“Thank you in advance for your support of this exciting event,” said Jessica Lineham, summer programmer at Options.

“Together, we can dine out on July 17 to make a difference and help people live healthier lives.”
