Jasper Municipal Library Staff
At the end of October, the Library and Culture building was buzzing with events like author readings and writing workshops. There was even a pop-up bookstore! Thank you to everyone who shared their talent over the booklovers weekend. We appreciate your support to everyone who listened, learned and enjoyed the weekend from near and far.
Did you catch the writing bug after the booklovers weekend? November is National Novel Writing Month. The library is a write-in location, and we have a writing group on Nanowrimo.org called Jasper Municipal Library. On Thursday evenings at 6 p.m., bring your project, be productive and get your word count in, or join to socialize with other writers over snacks and beverages. Are you just starting out with writing and still want to attend? We will also provide writing prompts to get you started. Then, at the end of November, you will have a chance to share what you have been working on at an Open Mic Night in Andromeda Coffee Bar starting at 6:30 p.m.!
Now that the weather has finally cooled off, we are ready to get cozy in the library. Wednesday mornings at 10:30, join our Knit Happens knitting group. Crochet or Stitch? Everyone is welcome to join!
Families looking for something to do on Saturday mornings, look no further! Our Saturday Storytime starts at 10:30 a.m. Listen to a couple of stories, then do a craft or activity together.
Adults and seniors get ready From the Stacks is back! Thursday, Nov. 10 and Thursday, Dec. 8, at 1:30 p.m., enjoy a reading, refreshments and good conversation.
If the weather, illness or mobility issues have you stuck at home, did you know we offer home delivery? Just give us a call at 780-852-3652 to let us know the book or movie information (title, author, format) and where you would like us to drop it off.
You can also get cozy at the library by checking out books on our themed book displays or by looking through the stacks for your next read. Our community cookbook is available to look at and scan ideas, or if you would like to add a recipe to it, we accept recipes year-round and are constantly adding to it as it is in binder format. We have a 1000-piece puzzle out for the community to put together. Are you still looking for a way to get cozy at the library? We also have many board games you can come inside to play in the reading room and the kids section.
We would also like to thank all the parents and community members that volunteered for the Scholastic Book fair on Nov. 1 and 2. Volunteers make a difference in how an event will turn out. Keep an eye on our social media pages to find out the next time we are looking for volunteers.
The library hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
