Five-way race to be the next elected member of the 45th Canadian Parliament for the Yellowhead riding

While the Yellowhead riding is considered safe for the Conservatives, factors such as the new boundaries, tariffs and the Liberal Party's comeback could play a role.

Conservative candidate William Stevenson bails last minute from election forum hosted by Banff and Lake Louise Hospitality Association and the Association for Mountain Parks Protection and Enjoyment at the Banff Centre.

The forum was hosted at the Forest Park Hotel on Tuesday (April 8) by the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce and moderated by Nadine McIsaac, director of operations for Jasper lodging at Pursuit Collection.

Bayford has worked in oil and gas, specializing in regulatory consulting and operations, and became interested in politics in 2015 following the downturn in the industry and Justin Trudeau鈥檚 election.

Fark serves as Jasper鈥檚 director of recovery following the devastating wildfire last summer. Prior to Jasper, he was the general manager of municipal infrastructure for the Town of Canmore.

Although William Stevenson has been involved in party politics for 30 years, this is the first time that he has stepped out from behind the scenes and into the spotlight.

Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver says all Jasper residents should be able to participate in their local democracy, regardless of circumstance.

The Canmore resident is a scientist and small business owner with a background in health care and over 15 years of experience in the food industry. She currently sits on the National Food Policy Advisory Council and on the board of Alberta Food Matters.
