Public consultations miss the mark

If it feels like you’ve been attending a lot of public consultations lately, you’re not alone. Over the past three months Jasper has hosted three different public engagement events for various infrastructure projects in Jasper National Park.

Jasper selected for $25-per-day childcare

Jasper will begin offering $25-per-day childcare on May 1, thanks to a $500,000 grant from the provincial government.

Minor train derail in Jasper train yard

Four CN Rail cars derailed in the Jasper train yard around 11 a.m. on April 3, according to Kate Fenske, a spokesperson for CN Rail. The four cars were travelling at slow speeds and there were no injuries or dangerous goods involved.

Jasper welcomes pair of drifters

Enslow will be playing at the Whistle Stop Pub on April 11 and 12 starting at 9 p.m. The show is free. One of Medicine Hat’s coolest musical exports can be found in the form of Enslow, a talented duo formed by Brady Enslen and Jay Bowcott.

Businesses on the move

More than half a dozen businesses in the downtown core are on the move, but the reasons why vary as much as the businesses themselves.

The master plan, which was approved by the B.C. government in August 2016, envisions building 18 ski lifts in three phases over the next 20 years, including five gondolas.

Parking permits will soon be required to access Mount Edith Cavell

.Mount Edith Cavell (pictured here) is one of the most popular summer use areas in Jasper National Park. People who want to visit the area will need to pick up a free parking permit located outside the Information Centre between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Temporary staff housing raises concerns
