Council awarded the 2024 Wayfinding Project to Burke Group of Companies Ltd. in the amount of $36,802.99. It also gave third reading to a Traffic Safety Bylaw amendment.

"Moving towards an ownership model would mean that the municipality wouldn't have to pay a contractor to buy the buses because we would own them or the storage because we would have it, and we could reduce our contracted costs accordingly."

Council also requested Parks Canada waive or modify its compliance deposit requirement for the Connaught Affordable Housing project, and it authorized the reallocation of $22,000 to purchase a used 1.5-ton smooth drum roller and trailer.

"This decision would extend a privilege enjoyed by Jasper residents to all Indigenous peoples of Canada."

Jasper Municipal Council will maintain the tax rate ratio between residential and non-residential for 2024.

"It is challenging for me to see any fair way to pass that on to residents as residents."

The policy also specifies that the on-time performance target for all regular fixed route services will be 85 per cent.

"While I think it’s very exciting and telling that the first six months of service we already have an external group wanting to add a route, I’d like to see a year and a full summer with the service first."
